This pinnacle, hand made yellow tea is made entirely from buds harvested on April 1 (Ming Qian). Using buds from old tea plants from the 1960s, the liquor delivers a rich, thick and complex mouthfeel. The tea was processed using the authentic traditional method – “3 times pan-firing, 3 times shaping, 3 times yellowing (三炒三闷三做形)” to bring out the best flavour of the leaves. We brewed this tea in a tumbler, also the traditional method, which allowed us to watch the beautiful tea brewing. A delicate honey sweet and floral fragrance floats out of the glass. The first sip is soft and elegant and the aroma melts deep into the liquor presenting a powerful lingering experience.
Our dedication to finding authentic and top-notch tea never stops. This year we came to Mengding Mountain and met a new friend, Mr. Huang, who still insists on making great teas by hand. It was an instant click upon meeting: handmade throughout the entire processing, a woodfire heating system, traditional tea processing procedures and sustainable tea garden management! No wonder Mr. Xu Gong (the inventor of Xu Gong Cha) speaks so highly of him and insisted that we meet. Next year, we will be helping him bring his top grade teas to the next level.
